Print Variable Data and Apply Labels in One Process

Real-time print-and-apply labeling systems create each label according to the current product or production record and apply it immediately. This supports changing batch information, serial numbers, dates, barcodes and other identification data without preparing a separate pre-printed label for every production batch.

01

Flat Surface Print & Apply

Prints variable information and applies labels to cartons, pouches, trays and other products with accessible flat surfaces.

02

Top-Side Printing Labelers

Combines automatic product feeding, real-time printing and top-side label application for cards, bags and flat packaging.

03

Round Bottle Print & Apply

Prints changing product information and applies the completed label around or onto a designated area of a cylindrical container.

04

RFID Printing & Verification

Integrates RFID label printing, data encoding, label application and verification for compatible traceability applications.

Typical Real-Time Print-and-Apply Process

01 Product Detection A sensor detects the approaching product
02 Data Transmission The required print information is sent to the printer
03 Real-Time Printing Variable information is printed onto the current label
04 Label Application The printed label is peeled and applied to the product
05 Verification Optional systems confirm printed or encoded information

Real-Time Printing and Labeling FAQ

What is a real-time print-and-apply labeling machine?

It is a system that prints the required information onto a label immediately before applying that label to the current product or package.

How is it different from an ordinary labeling machine?

An ordinary labeler usually applies labels that have already been printed. A print-and-apply machine produces variable label content during operation and then applies the completed label.

What information can the machine print?

Depending on the configured printer and software, printable content may include text, dates, batch codes, serial numbers, product information, 1D barcodes, 2D codes and simple graphics.

What is the difference between direct thermal and thermal transfer?

Direct thermal printing uses heat-sensitive label material and does not require a ribbon. Thermal transfer printing uses a ribbon to transfer the printed image and is normally selected when greater print durability or different label materials are required.

Can the machine connect to production software?

Data connection may be configured according to the printer, controller, communication protocol and customer software. The required data format and interface should be confirmed for each project.

Can it apply a different label to every product?

The system can print changing data for individual products when the data source, printing cycle and production speed are synchronized correctly.

Can barcode or RFID data be verified automatically?

Compatible barcode readers, vision systems or RFID verification modules can be added to confirm that the printed or encoded information meets the configured requirements.
